Tell mama the stitches are starting to fray,
That the scent of her in the fabric is fading away,
Just a small touch up,
Thatís what it needs,
For with buttons torn out, how can it see?
Tell mama that the touch of a clothed paw,
Isn't as warm as the smile sheíd dawn,
So please fix it quickly,
For I've been waiting for years,
The sound of her sewing it all I've wanted to hear,
Tell mama that stuffing is not the same,
It holds none of the love that she always gave,
It canít provide me with happiness if she isn't there,
Canít protect me from the monsters that always give a scare,
Tell mama that stitched smiles donít make me happy,
For her loving embrace is what I really need,
I donít want the pictures, scrapbooks, and tears,
I want my mama to be right next to me,
I want her to be here.
The idea for this poem wasn't based on life experience. My mother is happy and healthy and I love her so much.
The idea for this picture and poem actually came from the stuffed animal. The bunny was actually a replica of the one in OHSHC which Honey (Hunny or Hani are other spellings) used to carry around. He had, according to the anime, gotten the Bunny from his late grandmother and loved it dearly for that reason.
I hope you enjoy.
